All Weather Terminal – Rauanheimo’s unique strength

The Port of Kokkola in Finland, operated by Rauanheimo, is in an excellent location for serving the majority of Finnish import and export transports.

The port’s many state-of-the-art facilities include a side tippler shooter for an open-top rail wagon loader, and a safe fairway of 13 m that accommodates Panamax class vessels of up to 70,000 DWT. But perhaps the most unique feature, and one that provides a significant competitive advantage, is the All Weather Terminal (AWT).

Kokkola’s AWT is one of the largest covered terminals in Europe. With the cargo holds under cover, goods are safely and efficiently handled in all weather conditions and timetables and the quality of goods are not affected by adverse weather.

The AWT specialises in handling the following cargoes:

Sawn timber and other forest industry products

Metal industry products

Palletised products and big bags

Project cargoes
